The Leaning Temple of Huma, Sambalpur(odisha)

Huma temple is only 32 km from Sambalpur town, Huma is the only Leaning Temple which is perpendicular to the ground. The temple is dedicated to the hindu God Lord Shiva and situated at the bank of Mahanadi. On that temple beautiful and colourful Kudo fishes are  flowing on Mahanadi river and they never caught because these fishes are believed are belong to Lord Shiva,but the fishes are very friendly to visitors who feed them grain and prasad. Boats are available to travel smoothly on river. Several bus service is there to reach upto Huma Chowk, from huma chowk it is will take 2 km walk to the temple. Traditional Sambalpuri Saree impressed the Bollywood Actress Mahima Choudhry.

Bollywood Beautiful actress "Mahima Chaudhary" was too much attracted  by the beautiful collections of hand-woven sambalpuri sarees and beautiful designs of Odissi sarees and Ikkat sarees at "Meher's Handloom Showroom at Bhubaneswar.

She take too much interested in odisha handwoven sarees as well as Sambalpuri Ikkat saree, but finally she picked four traditional designs of sambalpuri Ikkat sarees, Tusser saree with tribal print. She loves it too much.



She loves the Meher’s showroom staff, who help her for selection of the sarees. She tooks so many pictures with odissi sarees.

She  feels very proud and told “I feel to much pleasure and happy to visit this shop,” said the Bollywood actress while writing “Superb Collection” in the visitors’ book at the showroom.

Textile Tourism in sambalpur.

In India every State have its very own personality and version of the six yard ethnic – the sari. And this saree Woven with threads of gold, or cotton, or traditional motifs are weaved by our great   artisans or weavers and give the saree a stunning avatars.


Our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi made the sambalpuri sarees famous all over world, the saree is made in several handloom group or soceity in Orissa. Specially  Sambalpuri saree weaved in Bargarh, Boudh and Balangir. This is called Ikkat or Sambalpuri ikkat , It have a beautiful technique where the yarn threads are tied and dyed before the weaving process begins. A beautiful tourist attraction in Sambalpur is Hirakud Dam, which is the world’s largest earthen dam and Asia’s largest dam. This dam water is used for irrigation and production of hydroelectric power, and it attract many tourists for it being the largest man made artificial lake in Asia. It has been constructed on the Mahanadi river between the Gandhi Minar in North and the Nehru Minar in the South which connects these two well known hills.

Haldhar Nag the Great poet of odisha.

"Haldhar Nag" is a Great poet of Sambalpuri language and a great  koshli folk story writer, of Odisha, India. He is also known as Lok kabi Ratna and now Nag has been compared to the Great poet "Gangadhar Meher".
He was awarded Padma Shri award in 2016.
