Maa Ghanteswari Temple, Chiplima, Sambalpur, Odisha

Maa Ghanteswari temple is a holy and beautiful place to visit in Sambalpur district of odisha.

The temple is located at a distance of 33 kilometres from sambalpur town which is famous for sambalpuri sarees. If you travel from any other part of India, it is best to reach sambalpur by train which is the nearest station then you book a taxi or auto and reach to your destination place. Try to visit this place in winter season, in summer season it is too hot.

Way to Ghanteswari Temple


Ganteswari name came from ghanti(Bell)  which means bell, odia people specially called it ghanti. Here the main attraction is to tie various types of  bell in the temple to fulfill your wish. People believe  and tie bells with a wish, when they came to visit here from all over odisha. It is such a beautiful place with full of natural beauty. 

This place is called Chiplima Dam, or temple of bells.

Ghanteswari temple is very close to Chiplima town, which is also a picnic spot of people around odisha.

Chiplima is also known for the hydro power plant which is close to the temple. People option call ghanteswari as a light house without light which helps sailors by ringing the bell.

In history we heard that before construction of Hirakud dam, many boats drowned in Mahanadi river by hearing the sound of a big bell. so people started offering bell here, and maa save all of the devotee from any harmful action from outside world.
